Lille Coach Fonseca Continues to Linger in Milan Search

Paulo Fonseca has been a constant presence on the Milan shortlist to replace Stefano Pioli and gained traction in the last couple of days amid the obstacles for other candidates. The Rossoneri wouldn’t need to negotiate with his side, Lille, since his contract is about to expire.

According to Sky, their brass sees him as an ideal option since there’d be tactical continuity. Moreover, he’s prepared, elegant, and balanced on and off the pitch. He’d be able to share the project and prospects with the club’s hierarchy.

Milan will tussle with Olympique Marseille, which have tabled an important proposal, for Paulo Fonseca. In addition, Lille are trying to convince him to stay. The Rossoneri would be his top landing spot if he left Ligue 1.

He’s an okay coach, but the only difference from Julen Lopetegui is that he has already spent time in Serie A, and with Pioli is that he hasn’t been with them for a few years. Their management seems intent on hiring somebody they’d be very comfortable with and is easy to get rather than the best or most ambitious options.
