Detroit Lions Jerry Jacobs Forced Off of Social Media

Detroit Lions cornerback Jerry Jacobs did not have one of his better performances against the Seattle Seahawks. 

Even in man coverage, which the talented defensive back excels in, Seattle's offense was able to take advantage, especially on a key third-down in overtime. 

Jacobs acknowledged to reporters it may have been one of his worst performances of his career. 

Afterwords, fans were relentless in their criticisms of his play, forcing the 25-year-old to take a break from social media. 

"I know a lot of fans and media know everybody can have one bad game," Jacobs said, via the Detroit News. "Every corner can have an off day and I just felt like the people on there didn't understand that. They just kept going and going and I had to block that out because I've been starting here for three years. How in the hell am I suddenly sorry if I've been doing it for so long?"

Jacobs has now made the decision to delete the apps off of his phone, just to avoid the temptation to check his phone during down time in the locker room. 

Playing defensive back in the NFL is no easy feat, especially in Detroit this season. 

The defense was supposed to be improved, as the front office made a substantial investment in free agency and via the draft. 

"As a cornerback, you have to be able to forget things. I'm trying to work on that and be better at that," Jacobs said. "After the game, I didn't want to do anything, which I guess it's supposed to be that way because we lost. I need to know what I'm capable of."
